Drought is a natural occurrence that has far-reaching and important consequences for the global economy, environment, industry, communities. In recent years, drought-like conditions have emerged in Nagaland as result of insufficient rains climate change, notably farmers, who faced worm-infested crops dried-up fields waterways. Therefore, quantitative examination drought condition vital early detection aids implementation mitigation methods measures before they occur particularly during dry periods. To achieve objectives this study, assessment index analysis was used to measure droughts also by determining drought's intensity duration. The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) rainfall deficiency over time can be investigate specific area. According study. year 2004 marked longest most severe on record, both terms length peak, with following indicators: SPI-1 (-6.49) 1997, (-10.11) 2004, SPI-3 (-4.99) (-1.82) SPI-6 (-2.62) 1997 (-4.37) SPI-9 (-3.04) SPI-12 (-2.66) 2004. SPI's potential utilization help water managers assess more effectively, allowing them prepare ahead management actions droughts.
